    Lack of exercise

    test
Lack of exercise is also associated with depression. Regular exercise causes the brain to release endorphins and other chemicals that naturally help elevate mood. One need not run 20 kilometers a day or lift weights six hours a day to reap such benefits. Simply scheduling to go for a brisk walk 30 minutes a day four days a week will help a person's overall health.

But when we are depressed, we find it hard to get up from the bed, so it would be a lot harder to go out for a run or something like that

Oh tell me about it! I usually get depressed during the winter months, I hate how the sun goes down by 4:30pm and how my days are short, I just have no energy whatsoever to do anything, let alone exercise. So yes Skypower, there are plenty of days I too find it hard to get up from bed. Even when Im up, it doesn't mean I will have the energy to exercise!

The problem is that walking when it's 18 degrees is kind of a difficult process. In the summer, I agree that walking even if you are depressed can be a good thing. Taking walks gives you scenery to look at, a breath of fresh air, and even if you have to drag yourself to do it, it's worth it. Unfortunately, the winter months, not so much. Not sure what the solution is in the winter? What do you suggest?

It is all about self motivation. If you think to yourself "I Can" and get up from the bed, you can do wonderful things! You just need to believe that you can.

I have several medical problems, so I don't know about snowboarding and skiing, but yeah, playing in the snow can be a lot of fun. Making snow men. Now if New Jersey would just snow and not be 18 degrees like it is tonight, that would be cool. I did take a walk yesterday, despite the chill in the air.

Regular physical activity can even help prevent depression and high blood pressure.
Physical activity prevent you from diseases, help in weight losand weight managment and better sleep.
Exercise make you happier and more relaxed than you were before you worked out.

I believe this. Exercise is good for your mental health, as well as your physical health and even I need to do more of it.
